Broadcasts: sending a one-off message from Kin
Admins and Superadmins
Broadcasts send a single, one-off message as a direct message from Kin to a group of people — a reminder, an announcement, or a timely nudge. It's built for standalone comms, not ongoing journeys (that's Runbooks, designed for lifecycle sequences with task tracking and completion).
A broadcast goes out once — there's no resend, no recurrence, and no digest; if you want to send similar content again, copy the broadcast into a new draft instead.
Audience is handled differently depending on type: a saved filter is re-checked right before the broadcast actually goes out, so anyone who no longer matches by then is skipped, while an Individuals or Email list audience is locked in as soon as you build it and won't pick up new matches later. Either way, people who've left the company, don't have Kin, or (for a pasted email) don't match anyone are automatically skipped.
Steps to create a broadcast message
1. Compose
+ New broadcast.
Give it a Name — this is internal only and only shows up in your own Broadcasts list, never to recipients.
Add an optional Title and write the Message body. Both of these are what the recipient actually sees, so write them as the finished announcement, not a placeholder.
Check the live preview alongside the editor to confirm the DM looks right before moving on.
Step 2: Choose your audience
Pick one of three audience types:
Saved filter — reuse an existing instance filter. Re-evaluated right before send.
Individuals — pick specific people from a picker. Frozen at the moment you build the list.
Email list — paste or upload emails or employee IDs. Also frozen once built.
Step 3: Review and send
Use Send preview to me to get a test DM in your own Kin inbox before committing — this doesn't affect the broadcast's status or count against delivery.
Then choose to send now, or schedule a one-time send for a future date and time in your organization's timezone. If you're sending to 200 or more people, you'll get an extra confirmation prompt before it goes out. Once sent, the broadcast is final: you can't edit it, resend it, or cancel it — the only option to send similar content again is to copy it into a new draft.

Finding drafts, scheduled, and sent broadcasts
The Broadcasts list is split into Drafts, Scheduled, and Published tabs.
Drafts are broadcasts you've started but not sent or scheduled — you can keep editing these freely.
Scheduled broadcasts are queued for a future send; you can cancel the schedule to pull one back to a draft before it fires.
Published shows everything that's gone out (or is actively going out), including live delivered and skipped counts while a large send is still in progress.
A few callouts
Sending to 200 or more people triggers an extra confirmation step before anything goes out.
Replying to a broadcast DM starts a new Service Desk conversation, which will be triaged in the same way all conversations are. Kin will ask clarifying questions and escalate if asked.
